In Search of Breakfast

I've been told of a few good breakfast and brunch spots, but one place that kept coming up is local Chicago chain Yolk.  I finally had the chance to check it out and wasn't disappointed.  It wasn't the best breakfast meal I've ever had, but it's definitely not even close to the crap you'd get at a Denny's.  We had some bad service unfortunately, but the food was pretty tasty, especially the french toast.  I really wanted to try the Red Velvet French Toast, but I couldn't man up.  When I go back I will definitely be trying it as I have deeply regretted it ever since and it is starting effect my mental well-being.

Don't Call Me a (Soda) Jerk!

Eleven City Diner is one of those places you go to when you aren't craving anything in particular.  It's just a magical place where everything tastes like awesome and the fun decor gives you a feel-good vibe as you try to take it all in while waiting.  You get seated by the smiling hostess, spend 10 minutes deciding between two or three options, realize they serve breakfast all day, spend ANOTHER 10 minutes debating if you really want challah bread french toast at 7pm, and then finally settle for a delicious patty melt.  Just as the waitress comes over to take your order you spot something.  What's that in the corner of the menu, a real deal soda fountain?  Damn right I want that soda jerk to make me a cherry cola!

Wabash Tap - A South Loop Secret

I almost don't want to post about this place, but it's too awesome to keep it a secret.  Wabash Tap in South Loop is a fantastic bar.  Craving $3 draft PBR's and some kick ass tater tots?  This is your place. The cheesesteak ain't bad either, and there's a good selection of other reasonably priced adult soda's.  Pool tables, plenty of TV's to catch a game, and friendly staff to boot!
